Disability & the Arts Contest Rules – Contest NOW CLOSED
PLEASE READ THIS PAGE IN ITS ENTIRETY BEFORE COMPLETING THE ENTRY FORM
The SAS Disability & the Arts contest is open any UCF student who identifies as having a disability. There is ONE grand prize awarded to the winner of each category regardless of how many individuals assisted with the endeavor.
Prohibited Content
Submissions MUST be student’s original work. Work must not infringe on third-party rights and may not contain any copyrighted elements. Work may NOT be obscene, indecent, or contain nudity. Work may not contain defamatory statements about any person, company, organizations. Work containing prohibited content which UCF would deem inappropriate will be disqualified.
TO ENTER
To enter the contest, complete and submit entries before midnight, Friday, January 26, 2024 MIDNIGHT, SUNDAY, JANUARY 28!
NOTIFICATION OF WINNERS
Finalists will be notified by email a week prior to the event. Winners will be announced during the event on Tues, Feb 13. Prizes will be distributed at that time.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
- Participants MUST be a UCF student who identifies as having a disability as defined by the Americans with Disability Act (ADA).
- Each entry MUST demonstrate the event theme: “UNIQUE: just like everyone else”
- Participants can enter ONLY ONE (1) category
STUDENTS MAY CHOOSE TO ENTER ONE (1) CATEGORY
CATEGORY 1: Original Video/Short/Film
- Entry MUST demonstrate the theme: “UNIQUE: Just Like Everyone Else”
- If there is spoken language in the video, the video MUST be properly captioned. If video is not properly captioned, the submission will be disqualified.
- Finished entry must have a minimum duration of one (1) minute and a maximum duration of five (5) minutes (including opening & ending credits).
- File specs: 1 GB max, video file (mov, mp4, wmv) OR submit YouTube or Vimeo link.

CATEGORY 2: Original Photography
- Entry MUST demonstrate the theme: “UNIQUE: Just Like Everyone Else”
- Please include the date and time the photo was taken as well as a written description stating (briefly 1-2 sentences) how the photo connects with the event theme.
- File specs: 100 MB max, image file (jpg, tiff, pdf) / Written Statement: 10 MB max, (Word, Excel, PDF)

CATEGORY 3: Original Song
- Entry MUST demonstrate the theme: “UNIQUE: Just Like Everyone Else”
- Song can be performed on video or audio recorded by a performer of the songwriter’s choice.
- Is submission is on video, it MUST be properly captioned. If the submission is audio recorded, typed lyrics MUST be provided in digital format. Failure to submit lyrics or add captions will result in disqualification.
- File specs: 1 GB max, file types (wma, wav,mov, mp3, mp4, wmv) / Lyrics: 10 MB max, (Word, Excel, PPT, PDF)

CATEGORY 4: Original Poem or Spoken Word
- Entry MUST demonstrate the theme: “UNIQUE: Just Like Everyone Else”
- Poem or Spoken Word can be written, performed on video, or audio recorded.
- If submission is on video, it MUST be properly captioned. If the submission is audio recorded, a typed digital transcript MUST be provided. Failure to submit transcript or add captions will result in disqualification.
- File specs: 1 GB max, file types (wma, wav,mov, mp3, mp4, wmv) / Lyrics: 10 MB max, (Word, Excel, PPT, PDF)
